Here are 5 children games for iPad, no doubt healthy to your children. They range from entertaining to educational and from mainstream to quirky, which must keep your children busy and engaged for hours. If you get an iPad, be free to enjoy it with your children, although it is a little expensive and you may worry if the children will do something wrong with your iPad. That all doesn’t matter.
1. Alice for the iPad (8.99) – The classic story of Alice in Wonderland is hard to ignore. Between the books and the movies it would be challenging to find a child who had not at least heard of this classic tale. Now, with the iPad version, the story comes alive in a way it never has before. It’s an abridged version of the book but still has 52 pages and 20 animated scenes, each one beautifully, and interactively, illustrated. Yes, that’s right, interactive. You can shake, twist, and turn your iPad to interact with each page. For example, on one page tilting the device makes Alice grow and shrink. On another, you can throw tarts at the Queen of Hearts. This is a charming app which has already revolutionized the world of e-books. It’s one you certainly don’t want to miss.
2. Dr. Seuss ABC (2.99) – This classic Dr. Seuss book is now available on the iPad. This app helps younger children through the alphabet, alongside the classic Seussical artwork. The “book†has three modes of storytelling. The first plays through like a movie, complete with full narration. More advanced readers can choose to have the book read to them, with each word highlighted as it is read aloud to encourage following along with the text. Additionally, when pictures are touched, the corresponding words are spoken and zoom up on the screen. Finally, you can choose to enjoy the book with no narration whatsoever. It’s a splendid e-book for any early reader.
3. GoSkyWatch Planetarium (5.99) – For the more scientific-minded, this app is a rare gem. Its intuitive, minimalistic interface helps both children and adults locate and identify stars, planets and constellations with ease by simply touching the screen or pointing it to the sky, and it auto-orients itself regardless of how you’re holding your iPad. A few extra features, such as red light mode to save your night vision and zooming, top off an already wonderful app. It’s a fantastic way to explore the night sky and has virtually limitless amounts of information for you to uncover.
4. Toy Story Read Along (Free) – Any fan of Toy Story will love this fully interactive app. In addition to being able to read the story, there are games, video clips, songs, and more to enjoy and explore. There are even coloring pages, on which your kids can use all ten fingers, thanks to multitouch! Early readers can have the story read aloud to them, and the creative-minded can even record their own narration. The simple navigation will make sure even the youngest users don’t get lost in the adventure. It’s a fantastic app for anyone who liked the movie, kids and adults alike.
5. Tozzle (1.99) – Tozzle is an entertaining and educational app that will keep your child busy for hours with its interactive puzzles. It includes 27 different puzzle pictures, complete with sound effects. The puzzle pieces appear in the upper right hand corner, and your child simply drags and drops the puzzle pieces into place on the appropriate silhouette. A helpful arrow helps guide children after three tries at getting a piece in place, so you don’t have to worry about their play ending in frustration or tears. It’s perfect for helping to develop your child’s shape recognition and motor ability and keeping them entertained at the same time!
