One Successful Case – How to Use Colors in Home Design
The house is rich of color but not seems confused. I always like simple design but this one is good-looking and relaxing as well. It locates around green plants and clean lake. The comfortable natural enviroment also matches the home design very well.
The floor lamp and vintage chair in the reading area are from Alfies Antique Market (alfiesantiques.com), the cushions are from the Conran Shop, the green glass vase is from LSA International (lsa-international.com) and the shelving unit is from Ikea.
Barney recently cooked a pike that he had caught from the comfort of his own sofa. The rug is from The Rug Company, the pink sofa from The Conran Shop, cushions from Thomas Eyck (thomaseyck.com), coffee table from Habitat and bunting from Hen & Hammock (henandhammock.co.uk). “It’s not all idyllic – we have to keep the windows covered with screens in the spring due to the bugs,” Curran says.
Having recently published her first book, Organised Fun, Curran is an expert on entertaining. “We love playing after- dinner games when friends come over, and with all the street parties and DIY festivals going on, there is a real resurgence in home-spun fun for free right now,” she says. “My book is full of ideas for things to do at home, including a few nostalgic favourites like British bulldog and charades.” The rugs in the dining area are from Vanderhurd (vanderhurd.com) and the chairs are from Retrouvius (retrouvius.com).
“The house was an empty shell,” Curran says. “But we filled it with things we love.” The rug in the main bedroom is from Vanderhurd (vanderhurd.com), and the throw was picked up on a trip to India. The Kiss cushion is by Emily Peacock (emilypeacock.com) and the Silence print is by Bianca Hall (from kissher.co.uk).
The cushions and rug on the deck are from Morocco. “We do the supermarket shop in the speedboat each week,” Curran says. “I love being here so much, I don’t understand why more people don’t live on a river.”
