Make an Elephant on Children’s Day
Children’s Day is coming. Have you prepared the gift for your children? Many toys could be bought in the shop, but something that is homemade by yourself or with children may be much better. Come on! Have a try! An elephant could be made according to the steps below, and only with bath towel, 2 wash cloths, ribbon, buttons, hot glue or needle and thread, and Embellishments, whcih are all easy to get.
Lay your towel out flat and fold lengthwise, each end to the center. Roll the unfolded sides to the centre of the towel, as shown.
Fold your roll in half and wrap an elastic band around to hold your elephant together (see photo, below right). Roll a wash cloth from one side to other, so that you have a tube. This will be the elephant’s trunk. With a little glue or needle and thread, secure the end of the washcloth roll, so that it can not unroll.towel-elephant-rolled (4K)
Fan fold a wash cloth (I used a printed white cloth for this to add a little colour to the elephant’s ears). Tie a piece of string or ribbon around the center of the fan fold to keep it secure and insert the wash cloth between the roll as shown in photo. Puff up the ears and secure with a little glue or stitch at the top of the head, to keep them in place.
Insert the rolled wash cloth (elephant trunk) between the roll at the front center of the elephant, hiding the wash cloth behind the side rolls. The wash cloth will extend out slightly from the towel to create the trunk. You can add a small piece of wire to the inside of the rolled wash cloth, to help keep a more uniform shape, but this is not recommended if small children will be playing with this.towel-elephant2 (7K)
For the eyes, I used large black buttons and glued a blue bead to the button. I added plastic eyelashes (available at craft shops). Glue a few roses or some other decorative trim to the top of the elephant’s head.
Tie a bow around the elephant’s neck (tie securely as this will hold your elephant together) and remove the rubber band.
Wonderful job, isn’t it? Your children must like it very much if they join you, for that they will think that’s done by themselves.
